Executive Producer at HBO’s True Detective Night Country

MARI JO WINKLER (she/her) is a NY-based Film and Television Producer. She is currently executive producing HBO’s True Detective: Night Country written and directed by Issa Lopez and starring Jodie Foster and Kali Reis. She previously executive produced Y: The Last Man S1, the feature films Stillwater (dir: Tom McCarthy), The Goldfinch (dir: John Crowley), The Only Living Boy in New York (dir: Marc Webb), The Dictator, Premium Rush, Fair Game, Away We Go, and Dan In Real Life. In addition, she produced the first season of the HBO series Vinyl and co-produced No Reservations, Lucky You, In Her Shoes, and Shall We Dance.

Winkler is a dedicated environmentalist and activist. She is a co-founder of PGA Green and GreenProductionGuide.com. Through her work as a co-chair of the PGA Sustainable Task Force and as a Co-Chair of the DGA Sustainable Future Committee she promotes sustainable production practices and climate messaging through storytelling. She has implemented sustainability protocols on every film she has produced since 2003.

In 2017, she received the City & State of NY CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) award for Sustainability & Environmental Impact. Winkler served on the board of The Producer’s Guild of America East (PGA) from 2016-2021 and is the recipient of the 2019 PGA Charles FitzSimons Award for her service to the guild.
